Learn More →Hamburg, the second-largest city in Germany and a major European logistics and industrial powerhouse, is home to a robust polymer processing and chemical distribution network. With its world-class port—the Port of Hamburg—acting as a gateway for international trade, local manufacturers require top-tier raw materials to remain competitive. The region's plastics industry, encompassing packaging film extrusion, blow molding, pipe extrusion, and wire and cable manufacturing, operates under stringent German and European quality standards.
To meet these rigorous expectations, polymer converters in Hamburg are increasingly adopting Fluoropolymer Processing Aids (PPAs). PPAs are advanced fluoropolymer-based additives incorporated into thermoplastic resins at parts-per-million (ppm) levels. They function by coating the internal metal surfaces of extrusion dies, creating a low-surface-energy slip layer. This layer dramatically reduces friction between the polymer melt and the die wall, resolving critical processing bottlenecks such as melt fracture (commonly known as sharkskin), die drool, and excessive backpressure.
By integrating high-performance PPAs, Hamburg-based manufacturers can process high-molecular-weight resins like Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), and metallocene-catalyzed polymers with ease. This leads to enhanced production efficiency, lower energy usage, and superior surface aesthetics for finished plastic products.
Prevents surface defects (sharkskin) on extruded films and profiles, allowing for higher line speeds and perfect surface gloss.
Minimizes die drool, reducing downtime for cleaning and preventing thermal degradation defects in the final product.
Lowers melt pressure and extruder torque, enabling processing at lower temperatures and reducing power consumption.
Overview & Legacy
Chengdu Kingrande Chemicals Co., Ltd. (formerly Chenguang Fluoro & Silicone Elastomers Co., Ltd. / FSE) was founded in 2004. Headquartered in Chengdu with manufacturing sites in Suining, China, we have grown through over 20 years of unremitting efforts from a small team of ten into a comprehensive enterprise with 300+ staff and two subsidiaries. We have evolved from simple traditional techniques to becoming a leading domestic supplier powered by patented technology, expanding our expertise from FKM pre-compounds to the high-end fine chemical market.
As a global partner serving the Hamburg market, Kingrande leverages its advanced chemical engineering capabilities to supply high-quality Fluoropolymer Processing Aids that meet European environmental and technical regulations. Our direct supply chains and logistics networks ensure that manufacturers in Northern Germany receive consistent, high-purity additives designed to optimize their polymer extrusion processes.
Contact Our Hamburg TeamHow modern polymer additives are transforming manufacturing processes in the Hamburg metropolitan region.
Germany's strict packaging laws (Verpackungsgesetz) demand high ratios of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics. Processing recycled polymers introduces inconsistencies in melt flow and higher impurities. Kingrande's PPAs act as structural homogenizers, enabling smooth extrusion of PCR-blended resins without sacrificing film strength or surface quality.
Compliance with EU REACH regulations is paramount for Hamburg manufacturers. Traditional fluoropolymer additives containing trace PFOA are being phased out. Kingrande leads this transition by offering next-generation, eco-friendly PFOA-free processing aids that deliver equivalent processing performance while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
With rising industrial electricity costs across Germany, energy efficiency is a key competitive factor. By coating the die wall and reducing shear stress, our PPAs allow extruders to run at lower temperatures and pressures. This reduces the carbon footprint and electrical consumption of local production facilities.
Our Fluoropolymer Processing Aids are tailored for specific, high-demand applications within Northern Germany's industrial sectors:

Understanding the rheology of polymer melts is crucial for optimizing extrusion parameters. During the extrusion of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the polymer melt experiences high shear stress near the die wall. When this shear stress exceeds a critical threshold, the melt slips and sticks alternately, leading to surface distortions known as melt fracture or sharkskin. This defect not only ruins the appearance of blown films and profiles but also degrades their mechanical properties.
Kingrande’s Fluoropolymer Processing Aids (PPAs) resolve this issue dynamically. The fluoropolymer particles dispersed in the host resin have a low thermodynamic compatibility with the polyolefin matrix. As the melt flows through the extruder, these fluoropolymer droplets migrate to the outer layer and deposit onto the metal die surface, forming a continuous, microscopic lubricant coating. Once this coating is established, the host polymer slides smoothly over the fluoropolymer layer, transitioning from a parabolic velocity profile to a plug-flow profile. This slip effect reduces shear stress at the die exit, completely eliminating melt fracture even at elevated extrusion speeds.
Moreover, the presence of the PPA coating prevents the accumulation of degraded polymer at the die lip (die build-up or die drool). This is particularly beneficial for long-run operations, such as cable insulation and pipe extrusion, where die drool can build up over hours, eventually break off, and cause structural defects or cosmetic blemishes in the final product. By eliminating die drool, Kingrande PPAs ensure continuous, uninterrupted production runs, maximizing the operational efficiency of Hamburg’s advanced manufacturing facilities.
